Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why doesn't the shampoo have a stronger smell? We don't add any perfumes or fragrance oils as these are strong chemicals and can be harmful to your pet, yourself and the environment. The mild, natural aroma of our shampoo bars is produced by the berries and leaves we use to make them.
-
Why don't the shampoo bars produce a lot of foam?We don't add any foaming agents to any of our products. In fact, it's a my that lather helps with cleaning - it just makes it more difficult to wash out the product.
-
How long will a shampoo bar last? Our bars are approximately 80g (there's a slight natural variation due to them being handmade) and will typically last 25-30 washes on a small to medium dog. Large dogs or dogs with a lot of hair may need more shampoo.
-
Can I use the shampoo bar on puppies? Our shampoo bar for normal skin is suitable for puppies from 16 weeks old upwards.
-
How should I store my shampoo bar?Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
-
How often can I use the skin recovery balm?As often as you wish - once the skin has absorbed the balm, you can apply more.
-
My skin balm has gone hard/gone soft - is it still OK to use?Yes, the balm is still perfectly OK to use. We don't add emollient stabilisers or any other unnecessary ingredients to our products. The oils and butters will behave differently in different temperatures so in the winter, they may harden (just pop on a radiator if it's too solid to use) and in the summer, it may become slightly liquid. For best results, store in a dry place at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
-
Is the skin balm safe if my pet licks it?Yes, all ingredients are specifically chosen to be non-toxic, although as it is oil-based, if they ingest a lot of it, they may get loose stools.
-
How long does the skin mask last once I've made it into a paste? The paste will keep in the fridge for one week.
-
Can I leave the skin mask paste on my pet?Yes, it will dry up and flake off. However, we don't recommend you leave the mask on - as it dries into a powder, it may slightly dry the skin.
-
Which products are safe for cats? Please only use our products designed specifically for cats. We add essential oils to some of our non-cat products and although they are only present in tiny amounts, cats can be very sensitive to certain essential oils.
